The Nordic PPA marketplace

Symbolon brokers long-term power agreements between companies and solar, wind, hydro and biogas producers across the Nordics, and scores every match hour by hour, so you see how much of your consumption a deal really covers.

What sets Symbolon apart

Matched hour by hour

Most PPAs are sold on annual volume. But a solar park that covers your year on paper leaves your nights and winters on the grid. Symbolon scores every match on how much of your consumption falls in the hours the plant produces. Try it with your own profile.

Safe at every step

PPA terms are commercially sensitive. That is why every contact goes through Symbolon, and you decide when your name comes out.

  • A broker in between

Symbolon speaks to each company before the two of you are introduced.

  • Anonymous until you are ready

Your name is not on the listing. It is shared only when Symbolon makes the introduction.

  • No binding prices

Prices are indicative and a starting point for a conversation. The final agreement is negotiated between the parties.

Frequently asked questions

What is a PPA?

A Power Purchase Agreement is a long-term contract to buy electricity directly from a producer, typically running 5-15 years. The price is agreed up front, so both sides get predictability.

What is the difference between a physical and a virtual PPA?

Under a physical PPA the power is delivered to the company through a utility, which sleeves it into the supply. A virtual PPA is a financial contract: the parties settle the difference between the agreed price and the market price, and nothing is physically delivered.

What happens when we express interest in a listing?

The enquiry goes to Symbolon, not directly to the counterparty. We get in touch with you, and when it suits both sides, we introduce you to each other.

Can others see our company name?

No. Your name is not shown on listings. It is shared only when Symbolon brokers the introduction between you and the counterparty.

Which countries does the platform cover?

The Nordics: Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland — 12 Nord Pool price areas in all (DK1-DK2, SE1-SE4, NO1-NO5 and FI). Anything outside them can be listed as "other".

Are the prices binding?

No. Prices on the platform are indicative. The final price and the remaining terms are agreed between the parties, and Symbolon does not provide financial or legal advice.
